Mourant acts as Cayman legal adviser on significant fintech merger

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, has acted as Cayman Islands legal advisor to INFINT on a business combination with leading global fintech platform, Seamless Group Inc., to become a publicly traded company.
Effective Tuesday 3 September 2024, the combined company will operate as CURRENC Group Inc. and the ordinary shares will trade on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "CURR".
Headquartered in the US, INFINT Acquisition Corporation is a Special Purpose Acquisition Corporation (SPAC) company whose goal is to bring high growth financial technology from North America, Asia, Latin America, Europe and Israel to the US public markets.
Seamless Group Inc., based in Singapore, specialises in digital payments and asset management for e-wallets, financial institutions and merchants, through fund transfers and instant messaging solutions. It has a prominent presence in South East Asia focused in highly populated areas with large unbanked populations.
Corporate Partner and Managing Partner of the firm's Cayman Islands office, Hayden Isbister, led the transaction for Mourant, working closely with Chris Nixon (Partner), Mali Bongers (Senior Associate) and Campbell Lang (Associate).
The Mourant team worked alongside Greenberg Traurig LLP as US legal counsel to INFINT on the transaction.
