Mourant BVI and Cayman practices ranked in Chambers and Partners Global 2023
16 February 2023
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands offices of Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, have been ranked in five practice areas in the Chambers and Partners Global Guide for 2023.
Chambers and Partners is a leading independent legal directory which has delivered comprehensive rankings and insights into the world's top lawyers, legal departments and law firms for over 30 years.
The directory conducts research in over 200 jurisdictions, with rankings granted in its range of directories recognised as the definitive mark of excellence across the legal sector.
These latest 2023 global rankings recognised expertise from our Caribbean teams in areas including dispute resolution, investment funds and corporate and finance.
In addition, Mourant BVI and Cayman-based lawyers were awarded 18 individual rankings in the guide. Two partners, Ian Montgomery, head of the BVI Finance, Corporate and Investment Funds team, and Nicholas Fox, head of the Cayman Litigation and Insolvency team, both individually moved up a tier.
A source quoted in the guide commented:
"Mourant is extremely responsive to clients in terms of answering questions and orienting everyone to the relevant issues and procedures under Cayman law."
Another added:
"The team is very familiar with trends, precedents and the market. We have been very impressed."
In October, the firm was ranked in nine practice areas, including five coveted top tier team rankings, in the Chambers and Partners UK Guide 2023.
This mirrors recognition in the IFLR1000 2022-2023 directory, where Mourant successfully maintained rankings across the board.
The firm also maintained 13 top tier rankings in Legal 500 UK 2023, in addition to 36 Mourant Partners, Counsel and Senior Associates gaining highly sought-after individual rankings in the directory.
