Mourant Ozannes teams up with Cayman Touch Rugby Association
11 January 2017
Law firm, Mourant Ozannes has announced a new partnership with the Cayman Touch Association (CTA), which was established in 2013 to develop and promote touch rugby in the Cayman Islands.
The sponsorship will provide vital funding for this thriving sport, which attracts players from across the Island and internationally.
Mourant Ozannes Cayman office Managing Partner, Peter Hayden, said:
"This is a really exciting partnership for us. The CTA plays an important role in promoting a team sport enjoyed by both genders and a wide range of ages. Rugby in all formats is well regarded as sport driven by a set of clear values and as a business we share these, including fair play, team ethic and respect for others. We are very pleased to confirm our commitment to CTA and to play a small part in helping to grow this sport in the Cayman Islands."
Scott McCarty of CTA said: "We are thrilled at the formation of our partnership with Mourant Ozannes. Our Association has worked very hard since inception three years ago to establish broad foundations for the sport in Cayman, which encompass Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’ Touch, annual international and domestic one and two day tournaments, domestic leagues, an effective representative program, and player and referee development programs. Mourant Ozannes’ support in the form of financial, marketing and administrative assistance will be invaluable in a number of ways as we seek to further build upon these foundations. Our partnership with a prestigious international law firm such as Mourant Ozannes also provides our relatively new Association with standing within the Cayman and international sporting community, so this really is great news for us!"
The CTA hosts a number of tournaments throughout the year, including the Cup of Nations, the Mourant Ozannes International Touch Tournament and the Touch Super Leagues. The Cup of Nations will include eight teams and will be held in February 2017 (dates TBC). The highly anticipated 2017 Mourant Ozannes International Touch Tournament will take place on 24-25 March at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. Players can also take part in any of the Touch Super Leagues, which are 4-week domestic tournaments that are hosted on Wednesday evening.
