Mourant Ozannes' Cayman team recognised by Chambers Global

Mourant Ozannes' Cayman Islands practice has been recognised in the latest edition of the Chambers Global Legal Rankings for its "responsive", "very effective and experienced lawyers" who offer "clear and constructive commercial solutions".

Recent growth of the firm's investment funds practice was reflected in the updated guide, which acknowledged its increasing market share with a promotion in the rankings. Sources praised the team's "excellent responsiveness and customer-focused approach" when advising a broad range of clients from across the globe, with particular experience with US funds and investors.

Eight Mourant Ozannes lawyers were singled out for particular praise. Partner Alex Last was highlighted for his work advising global clients on all aspects of private equity funds. Sources described him as "very commercial and very smart" and as "a private equity specialist with a depth of expertise". Partners Hayden Isbister, who "inspires confidence in clients", and "extremely responsive" Neal Lomax, were also singled out for their technical expertise and client service. Catherine Pham, who was promoted to partner in 2016, was noted for her "deep knowledge" as well as for her fund structuring and restructuring work, with sources noting that she is "very responsive, sharp and produces good-quality work."

The firm's dispute resolution practice was recognised for its involvement in the jurisdictions largest-ever disputes, with sources highlighting the team's "very effective and experienced lawyers" who have a "fantastic knowledge of the local courts, and a degree of organisation that is very impressive." Cayman managing partner Peter Hayden is recognised for his work on the high profile Primeo insolvency and AHAB v Saad and is described by clients as "robust yet calm under pressure". Simon Dickson, who heads the litigation team, is a "good strategist" who "brings great judgment" to the cases with which he is involved and Hector Robinson, who was appointed Queen's Counsel earlier this year, is praised for his involvement in major trusts disputes.
