General Sir Richard Shirreff KCB CBE confirmed as keynote speaker for Mourant Trusts and Private Wealth Forums 2024
04 June 2024
Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, has confirmed that General Sir Richard Shirreff KCB CBE will deliver the keynote address at the 2024 Guernsey and Jersey Trusts and Private Wealth Forums.
Sir Shirreff served as NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe, dealing with strategic operations involving military, allied and other governments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and international organisations.
Entering the army after university, Sir Richard commanded operations at every level from platoon (30 men) to division (20,000 men and women) and saw frontline service in the first Gulf War as a tank squadron leader and again in Iraq as a divisional commander. He also served in Northern Ireland, Kosovo and Bosnia, before finally serving as a four star general at NATO.
His book, 'War with Russia', was published in the UK, USA and Poland in 2016. It became a Sunday Times best seller and has been translated into eight languages.
Widely recognised as the leading events of their kind in the Channel Islands, the Mourant Trusts and Private Wealth Forums consistently deliver the latest insights on key topics and trends in the trusts and private wealth sector.
In addition to Sir Richard's keynote address, this year's programme will feature topical panel discussions delivered by experts in their fields, on issues including a trustee's guide to mental capacity, a jurisdictional discussion on planning considerations for Middle Eastern clients, jurisdictional updates for Guernsey and Jersey, and coverage of the latest significant trust cases.
The Jersey Trusts and Private Wealth Forum will take place on Tuesday 2 July at the Radisson Blu Hotel, with the Guernsey event following on Thursday 4 July, hosted at St Pierre Park Hotel. Tickets for the full-day conference are priced at £180pp.
