Obtaining a declaration en désastre
01 February 2017
One of the options available to clients seeking recovery of an unsatisfied debt owed by an individual or company linked with the Island is an application for a declaration en désastre. The local equivalent of a bankruptcy or winding-up petition under English law, the availability of this statutory discretionary remedy is governed by the provisions of the Bankruptcy (Désastre) Jersey Law 1990.
