Mourant London office supports City Harvest

This October, our London office continued to support its Charity of the Year, City Harvest, by participating in the annual City Harvest Festival food drive.

This campaign is designed to celebrate all the wonderful things about harvest time, whilst sharing and giving back to those most in need.

Harvest Festival is a significant time of year for City Harvest. As London’s first food redistribution charity, it aims to address food waste and food poverty in the capital. City Harvest puts surplus food to good use in a sustainable way, delivering over 1 million meals a month to over 350 charities, including children’s programmes, food banks, homelessness projects, women's refuges and local groups across London welcoming the elderly and isolated.

Volunteering with City Harvest

Over the last year, many members of our London office have participated in three volunteering days across City Harvest's Acton and New Spitalfields Market sites, where they helped organise supplies of fresh fruit and vegetables, and package up crates of chilled food for delivery.

During the latest volunteer day, our London team partnered with longstanding client, Goodstone Living. Over the course of the day, the volunteers contributed to the preparation of approximately 44,520 meals, rescued 18.7 tonnes of food, and helped to prevent 48.5 tonnes of carbon emissions.

As part of the day’s activities, one team member also joined a City Harvest driver to help deliver the food to a number of recipient charities, adding further insight into the crucial role that City Harvest plays in supporting local communities and ensuring food reaches those who need it most.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge

This December, Mourant has pledged support to City Harvest's Big Give Christmas Challenge, which aims to raise £200,000 in vital funds to provide 800,000 meals to children over the cold winter period.

The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign. For seven days, from 3–10 December 2024, some of the charity's key funders, including philanthropists and foundations, have agreed to match all donations, doubling the total amount raised.
